In my 10 years of coaching soccer, here are the 6 elements I have narrowed it down to which create a perfect ball strike.
If you do this properly, you will a achieve, a incredibly powerful slowly rising, no spin, line drive shot, which is the essential core of striking the ball well.
#1 Strong Plant Foot & Leg. The leg, angle and foot supporting the shooting foot will completely make or break your ability to shoot, un-sturdy leg, leads to a wildly inconsistent shot.
#2 Locked Ankle. If you do everything else right when you are shooting and you don’t lock your ankle, your shot will have about 35% less of the power that it could have, it’s extremely important.
#3 Watch the Ball Come Off Your Foot. This concept is extremely similar to golf. You have to keep your head down throughout the process of shooting, you don’t need to look up to see your shot, to have a good shot.
#4 Knee Snap. This technique will completely make or break your ability to shoot the ball. You must extend your foot from your knee as quickly as possible, thus creating a “snap”.
#5 Arm and Leg Extension. In order to generate the most force possible, with your body, you want to extend the opposite arm you are shooting with, right leg (left arm) left leg, (right arm). This is going to give your shot more power.
#6 Upright Stable Posture. We want avoid, leaning, hunching, or tipping in any way when you are striking.
#7 Land on your shooting foot. This is a more tehnical way of saying, follow through,
#8 Approach the Ball from a 45 Degree Angle. This is self explanatory.
#9 Hit The Ball in The Center. With in the middle of your foot/ right in the center of the laces of your shoe.
